I remember Mom Woffinden as a patient woman who loved to paint.  When I first met her she painted quite a bit and even tried to teach me the art.  She loved to work the colors and learn new techniques.  I remember easels and paint all over the house up until she went down to Tooele to take care of her Mother.  I appreciated what she did teach me although I have not continued with painting in my own life but I acquired of some of those techniques have allowed me to communicate with my own artist daughter in law.   Thanks Mom!

Mom

October 3, 1927

Rose Marie Moscon Woffinden
(center back row)
Computer issues kept me from posting on what would have been Mom's 85th birthday.
So today I reflect on MOM
Hers was a life of dedication to the gospel, she loved to serve.
Her list of accomplishments and missions served was long.
Things I learned from Mom
1. How to create,
something she learned from her Mom
2. To put my heart into my callings
3. Love of the temple, esp. the Logan Temple
4. Pride, the good and the bad
5. The beauty of testimony
6. Love of the scriptures
7. How to make beef stroganoff
8. Love of flowers
& how to make corsages etc though I will never be as good as her
9. Love for word puzzles
10. Endurance with grace
I miss you Mom

Duard Sims Woffinden
Personal Testimony:
The gospel of Jesus Christ is the ultimate in guidance for the best possible life both here and hereafter.
It will bring joy and satisfaction to all who enthusiastically embrace it. During my lifetime, I have attended Mormon church meetings from New York to Tokyo and in every meeting I have found friendship and happiness. Attending these meetings brings me further confirmation of the intrinsic value of the gospel when I observe the good people who have espoused the cause and bear enthusiastic testimonies of it's truth.
An interesting and enjoyable fringe benefit is the fact that I hardly ever attend a Mormon church meeting, anywhere, without meeting either someone I knew somewhere else, or else someone who knows someone I know. It's a small but highly enjoyable world and the thing that makes it so is the true gospel.
I am happy to testify that the gospel of Jesus Christ, as taught and lived by Mormons, is the true gospel, like that Christ himself established during his mortal life. I recommend it to everyone!

Our Dad
I have been thinking a lot about our Dad as his birthday approached. I wonder if I have taught my children enough about him. They never had a chance to know him. I asked my son what he knew of his grandfather. His response, "he seems like a really good guy, intelligent and hard worker". I decided I have at least made a good start.
Things I remember most from Dad:
1. "Use patience and perseverance"
2. He would sing "Love at Home" whenever there was fighting
3. "No use crying over spilled milk" (this said after the cat had eaten
the hamster because I left the cage open)
4. I loved how his voice would change when he prayed
5. The talk he gave on King Lamoni
6. Circuits and notes written on the edges of newspapers and the
 backs of used envelopes
7. Poems written for all occasions
8. Mountain trips for wood
9. Discovering that a hairdryer worked easier to stoke the fire
that blowing on it
10 Eating creamed anything, only person I know who
REALLY liked fruitcake

He was a most practical man, friendly to everyone. As he said in his testimony, he never
went anywhere without making a friend. We would do well to live like he did.

Happy Birthday Roger!!

Sunday, September 8, 2013

I was adopted into the Woffinden clan some 30 years ago when I married the youngest daughter of Rosemarie and Duard Woffinden.    I have thoroughly enjoyed my time and experiences with the Woffindens.  I've hunted with them,   garage sale shopped with them,   and had children with one of them.    I believe this blog will be a great opportunity to learn and scientifically study more about them!

Alan
Happy Birthday Roger.

I've already learned alot! I now know how to add you all as authors, you don't need my email and password, so I'll be adding you soon, please send me any of your kids emails you might be willing to post as well. Also I know how to make it private as well so if any of you are nervous about info on the web let me know that is kind of work but I will do it if that's what you want!
Thanks!

Finally! with Jeff's help, the long awaited picture!

Getting Started

I am not much of a writer, but I want to reconnect with my family. Rosanne, Elaine and I have talked about different ways to do this. What about using technology? Social Media even? Are we too old for this?? We shall see. I want to have this so everyone can post, let us know what's happening in your part of the world, post pictures bragging of accomplishments, grandchildren etc... Let's share in each others successes and happy times or heartaches that need family prayers and support. I have not ever blogged before, this is all new, I don't know how to share this or post pictures or anything so please learn along with me and let's reconnect!
I think it would be great to share memories too and perhaps some geneology. I am trying to upload an old family photo, no luck yet but I'll keep trying. I hope you will at least think about joining in and posting something every now and then , we cna make this private with limited viewers (at least I 'm pretty sure I can do that) if you prefer. I'll send an email this more details!

love you all!
