#lighttheworld Honor thy father and thy mother

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints sponsors a "Light the World" campaign at Christmas. Today is Honor thy Father and thy Mother. My parents are both in Heaven with God. I was born of goodly parents who raised me to love God and my family. They taught me the gospel of Jesus Christ, they taught me of Him and showed me by their example how to be like Him. My father was a kind man, a very hard worker. He was not happy to be idle, wherever we visited he asked for or found ways to be of service, to work. My mother was very  intelligent, she loved to read and to learn. She loved the temple. I was so blessed to have parents who loved each other and loved their family. I am grateful to have had such good examples. They had a love and devotion for the gospel, they were true disciples of Jesus Christ. I am also grateful to my husbands parents, they raised him to be a man of God, to worthily hold the priesthood. Words seem to fail me as I wish to express the depth of my feelings but struggle to find words that convey those feelings adequately. I hope to be an honor to my parents by the way I live my life. I love them!

Family Reunion by mail

Elaine put together this great packet for a "Family Reunion" by mail and entrusted me to start it off- may have been a mistake. I decided I wanted to wait until after we had been to North Carolina to see AJ and Marlene and get a picture with them in the hat so I put the hat in my suitcase and FORGOT about it until we were packing and there it was. I did get a picture but you won't find it in the package as I haven't yet downloaded it to get it printed, I also didn't get pictures with everyone in it so that wasn't good either. It has inspired me to try and reignite the blog so we can put pictures here electronically and not have to get them printed. I'll have to see if I can relearn how to put a picture on here. Is anyone else feeling their age and love/hate with technology??
Anyway, let's stay in touch! Please do the reunion and send it on! and either post here for those already contributors or email me and I will post it!
We Are Family!!
love you all!

Pondering

I love to read blogs- a few of them I follow regularly. They are like reading a story- each entry a chapter. Most of the blogs I read, I have never met the author, nor am I likely to ever meet them. Perhaps it's a bit like following a soap opera.  Not long ago a friend told me I should blog- obviously I'm not too good at that :) I don't feel like I have a gift for words, and much of my life story is too current. It's fun to see pictures and read the exploits of small children. I remember when my kids were small- I was in control then, confident about their future. Not so much anymore, they are big now. Not so fun when they are big and I doubt they'd like me posting about them now- they do that themselves on Facebook.
I started this with the goal of connecting family- mostly because I DON'T have any desire to create a Facebook account-  I suppose I just may have to cave on that one eventually. The Spirit needs to move me to action there.  Maybe I will post more, hopefully find some family history stories, maybe just random thoughts.
